A-Plant has won a new preferred supplier contract from Spice plc, a provider of outsourced infrastructure support services principally to the utilities sector, which was founded in 1996 through a management buy out from Yorkshire Electricity. The new contract builds on A-Plant's contract with Freedom, a world class provider of specialist engineering services to the electricity sector and to industry, which forms part of the Spice group of companies. Spice is a support services business that operates principally within three sectors: Commercial, Public and Utility Services. From a single contract worth £3 million per annum, Spice has grown organically and by acquisition to in excess of £300 million turnover per annum and was admitted to AIM in August 2004. Spice is now recognised as a leading provider of support services across all three sectors and works in partnership with a large number of commercial and utility organisations. Operating from more than 30 locations across the United Kingdom, Spice provides bespoke and added value solutions for clients and customers. Spice comprises a diverse group of companies, many of them market leaders in their own markets. Freedom, for example, offers a "Cradle to Grave" solution for major utility and infrastructure projects, having an extensive delivery capability in design, project and operational management and technical works. Freedom offers a range of services, including Consultancy Services; Power Projects; Power Lines; Volume Asset Replacement; Asset Care & Maintenance and Network Solutions. Bringing together technically-based support services in closely interrelated growth sectors, the Spice group of companies also includes AirRadio Ltd, which provides mobile voice and data communications for mission-critical environments to more than 85 corporate customers at 22 UK airports, including airlines, airports and ground operation companies; Circle Britannia, a leading provider of facilities maintenance services nationwide and Metro Rod, one of the country's leading providers of drainage solutions. |
